Channel and Distribution Manager Recruitment

Recruit channel and distribution managers in India: partner development, enablement, territory coverage and sell-through, assessed against your channel model.

Channel and distribution managers are responsible for the partners that take your product to market: resellers, distributors, dealers, system integrators and alliance partners. The role asks for commercial judgement, relationship skill and operating discipline. hroXai recruits these managers for employers in India. We hire the people who manage your channel and do not run distribution on your behalf.

Two related profiles

Channel partner managers usually work with resellers, integrators and alliance partners, often in technology and services, where partners influence and close deals alongside your team. Distribution managers usually work with distributors, wholesalers and dealers, often in consumer, industrial and manufactured products, where availability and territory coverage are central. Many roles combine elements of both, so we confirm the model first.

Typical responsibilities

  • Identifying, evaluating and onboarding new partners or distributors.
  • Agreeing joint business plans, targets and incentives with partners.
  • Planning territory coverage and spotting gaps in the partner network.
  • Enabling partners with product knowledge, sales tools, training and support.
  • Tracking sell-in and sell-through, stock levels where relevant, and partner performance against plan.
  • Managing partner relationships, including conflicts, credit and compliance issues.
  • Working with internal sales, marketing, finance and operations teams.

What we assess

  • Experience recruiting and developing partners, and how they judged which ones were worth the investment.
  • Ability to read sell-in and sell-through data and act on it.
  • Territory and coverage planning, including how they handled weak or overlapping areas.
  • Negotiation and relationship skills with owner-operators and senior partner stakeholders.
  • Enablement: how they helped partners sell, not only how they managed targets.
  • Handling channel conflict between partners, direct sales and online routes.
  • Readiness for the travel and partner-facing time the role requires.

Hiring challenges

Channel experience differs enormously between sectors, so a manager from IT resellers may not transfer directly to FMCG distribution, or the reverse. Results can depend on brand strength rather than the manager. Candidates may also not have owned partner selection or commercial terms. We separate what the candidate owned from what the brand or the team delivered.

What a good candidate looks like

A strong candidate explains how they built or repaired a partner network and what changed as a result. They talk about partners as businesses with their own economics, not only as targets to hit. They can discuss a hard decision, such as ending a relationship or reallocating territory, and describe what they learnt. We do not set or quote performance benchmarks.

How hroXai approaches the search

  • Calibrate the channel model, partner types, territories, targets and the balance between partner development and account management.
  • Source from sectors and channel models that match yours, including adjacent markets where experience transfers.
  • Screen through structured interviews on partner selection, enablement, performance review and conflict handling.
  • Shortlist with evidence for each candidate and clear notes on where their experience matches or differs from your model.
